Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Sort
Step1
Start organizing by going through everything you have kept.
Step2
Go through what you have kept, and weed out the things that you really don't need or want. It is easy to keep everything, but more often then not, once you go through your keepsakes, you will find that there is no relevance to some things. Go through everything and sort by starting a keep pile and a toss pile.
Step3
Go through the keeps, and organize them by month or by special occasions like birthday or holidays.
Step4
Sort into kinds of keepsakes. Put cards, notes or small documents together. Next sort pictures into another pile. Finally, organize all of the special gifts. An example of this is a personal monogrammed baseball or similar.
Organize
Step1
Now that you have your categories sorted and your keepsakes are organized into similar piles, lets get them together.
Step2
Make a special book. Take all of your cards or notes, and sort them by size. Then put them all together and punch holes on the left side. String together with yarn or ribbon to make your card notebook. If you have important certificates or documents, place them in plastic sleeves and put them into a binder or folder. Now you can flip through memories easily, and all of them are kept together.
Step3
Take small photo or memory boxes and store special gifts or memorabilia. Organize by month or special occasion. Also create a box for milestones. On the outside of the box, label with month or occasion. Now you can easily find all of your baby's special items.
Step4
Gather all of your photos. If you scrap book, add photos to your scrap books. Or if you put photos in albums, add them to your albums. Often times, you have more pictures then you know what to do with. Start a new album or binder with all of the miscellaneous pictures that you have. A picture is worth a thousand words, but if they are not accessible or organized, you may never see them for how special they are.
