One of the best qualities of Chinese throwing stars is that they are very easy to conceal. Unlike long blades or guns, there are a number of ways to have a throwing star ready for an attack without others being able to see, or even feel, the throwing stars on your body. Follow these steps to learn the techniques of throwing star concealment.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Assess from whom you're concealing the throwing stars. This might be the most important part of concealing throwing stars, or any weapon for that matter. An enemy on the street will have very different methods of detection than a policeman or, for that matter, your mom. Identify who might be looking for the throwing stars so you know how to conceal them.
Step2
Keep them out of plain sight at all times. If no one knows that you have throwing stars, no one will know to look for them. This means, keep them out of sight from all people who might report their existence. Even in the privacy of your home, you should not leave the stars out, if you truly want to conceal them.
Step3
Keep the stars in a case. If you want to carry the stars on your person, keep them in a case that allows you to hide them in places where you wouldn't want an accidental poke. The band of your pants is a good place to wedge the case into since it conceals the case of stars and allows for quick access. Also, think about places where an attacker will expose, such as your wallet, to conceal the stars effectively.
Step4
Use sleight of hand. If you really want to be vigilant, practice cupping the stars in your hands in a way that others won't be able to see. Get used to passing the throwing stars from hand to hand and placing them in and taking them out of pockets so that you can be prepared for any eventuality without giving away the fact that you're holding a weapon.

on 10/23/2007 Hmmm, this might be bad advice for anyone living in California, and any other state where shuriken are felony violations. Interesting point of view, though.
I think you'd be shocked at being able to see just how easily I can conceal two handguns, 14 magazines fully topped off (9 single stack 8-round 1911 mags and 5-10 round staggered stack mags, all in .45 ACP), handcuffs, a ballistic armor vest, cell phone, iPod, 12 knives ranging in size from a 3.5" blade folder to a 10" fixed blade combat knife, 3 tactical flashlights (one weapon-mounted), all under a normal-sized hockey jersey, or an untucked flannel shirt, or a zip-up hooded sweatshirt. Send me an e-mail, and I'll send you a picture in full gear. No Joke.
