Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take a look around flea markets and garage sales for hidden gems. Oftentimes people sell large amounts of estate items that contain a few great collectible pieces.

  2. Step 2

Consult with an antiques dealer about any items he or she may have come across in their profession that might be of interest. Having a reliable and reputable dealer to talk with can be an invaluable tool for the collector.

  3. Step 3

Search the online and local auctions houses for upcoming sales that may contain vintage 1940s memorabilia. Be certain to check for item authenticity when buying online. Fakes are common on rare items use a reputable dealer.

  4. Step 4

Look for unusual or signed items. Signed memorabilia almost always commands a higher premium. Rare items can be harder to find, making the purchase even more satisfying.

  5. Step 5

Buy pin-up art and WWII items, as they almost always increase in value over time. Enlist the help of a WWII expert to help sift through the collectible items. Many military things from the Second World War are interesting to own, yet sometimes not entirely rare or hard to get.

Tips & Warnings
  • Find another person to assist in collecting. Another person's opinion can really make difference when impulse buying kicks in.
  • Always ask the dealer or seller where they get their memorabilia. They might divulge a source that can later be invaluable.
  • Place a limit on the collectible budget and stick to it. It is too easy to spend more than necessary on items.
