1
Form a committee. You need more than one person to hold a raffle. You need to find other people who are committed to the event and will help wherever they can.
-
2
Assign tasks. There should be a committee chairperson, and people on the committee should all be asked to participate in some way. You will need people to find/buy the prizes, have the tickets printed and provide refreshments for the big event.
-
3
Decide what you want to raffle off. Usually raffles are associated with more than one prize. So you need to have a list of what prizes you will be offering. Whatever you decide you need to know before you can print the tickets because they need to say what the prizes are.
-
4
Canvass the area to ask the committee members for donations to the prizes or seek the prizes from others in the neighborhood. A lot of merchants are happy to contribute to a good cause Again, you need to know what prizes you will be able to get before the tickets get printed.
-
5
Find a printer. With today's modern technology you can probably print the raffle tickets yourself, but if you don't know how or you don't have the equipment to do them, either find another volunteer who does or go to a print shop and have the tickets printed.
-
6
Sell the tickets. If you are doing this for a church or school then members of that organization can be recruited to sell the tickets. In any organization you could give each person or family a quota to sell, so that you are sure to make enough money for whatever you are trying to purchase.
-
7
Provide refreshments. Usually there is a big night when the raffle tickets are drawn and you will need refreshments for it. Again most of the time these will be donated, but if you must buy them make sure you take the money from the proceeds.
