1
Determine which elementary school your child will attend if there is more than one, by calling the school district. Through the school district, you can decide in which school zone you live, and establish residency.
-
2
Make sure that your child meets the age requirement to attend school, which differs in each district. Children entering kindergarten must turn 5 years old on or before a pre-determined cut-off date.
-
-
3
Schedule an appointment with your child's physician for an updated physical exam, as well as immunizations. Children will not be allowed to attend elementary school without current immunizations on file.
-
4
Have your child screened by the school to determine his range of basic skills. The screening process is brief and does not require a lot of time.

Tips & Warnings
Be prepared to show proof of residency in the form of a mortgage or lease statement or a current electric bill. You will also need to provide your child's birth certificate and social security number.
Your child must be enrolled within your school zone unless a waiver is granted by the school district.
As part of the registration process, some schools host special events to bring together and introduce incoming kindergarten families. Find out if your elementary school offers such events.
If you have questions concerning whether your child is ready for kindergarten or not, discuss these concerns with your child's physician.

In step 3 "Children will not be allowed to attend elementary school without current immunizations on file." Is not true, there is a Request for Exemption to Immunization form you can find on most school websites, if you look hard enough, . They can NOT make you vaccinate other wise they would be taking liability for anything that happens due to the vaccinations.
