Step 1
Confirm that you own the proposed property, or have a written permission to do the makeover and that your team, as well as your neighbor's team are under a five minute walk from each other. Also, each team must consist of 2 people: spouses, parent and child, siblings and friends are all accepted. In order to be considered to get on the program you must have three rooms available for possibilities of makeover. There must be sufficient space for the production team to put the show together. The rooms must be at least 12 by 12 feet and at least 8' in height and no more than 12 feet in height. Carpentry World must have a paved space that is functional for the 25 by 50 feet carpentry area. You and your neighbors must both be able to take the same two days out of your schedule. Not all shows are filmed on the weekends.

Step 2
Apply online at the website listed in the Resources section below. In addition to the online application, take the following steps to submit your pictures and applications: take one picture of Team 1 and Team 2, take two pictures of 3 rooms to be transformed for each home, and take one wide shot of the outside of Team 1's house. Also take the following pictures and steps for Team 2: take one wide shot of the outside of Team 2's house, take one picture of the concrete area to set up carpentry world with the trailer and tent (50 feet long and 10 feet wide).

It is also important that you follow these instructions to label your pictures as well as your neighbor's pictures: T1 (picture of the first team), T1 1st Room (two pictures of Team 1's first room), T1 2nd Room (two pictures of Team 1's second room), T1 3rd Room (two pictures of Team 1's third room), T1 House (outside picture of Team 1's house) and T1 Outside Work Space. Follow these directions for T2: Fill out the questioner and submit your application online. To increase your chances of being selected, also print and mail your application.
