The thought may force a grimace on the face of a non-believer, but when you make vegan sweets they are just as good as regular sweets. With flavors and replacement techniques, you can fool any non-believer into thinking your vegan sweets are anything but.

From Quick Guide: Vegan Meals
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get the right ingredients in a health food store. They are usually stocked with all of the ingredients that you may not be able to find at your local grocery. Many vegan sweets are baked with agave nectar instead of sugar, spelt flour instead of regular flower, dairy-free chocolates and xanthan gum. There are listings of vegan-friendly ingredients at the Peta website.

  2. Step 2

Replace butter; use vegan margarine in all of your sweets. If you can't find vegan margarine specifically, try applesauce or scour the shelves for a salt-free vegetable margarine devoid of animal ingredients.

  3. Step 3

Avoid eggs; try baking with safflower oil, avacados or squashed bananas in cookies and brownies that don't require an ingredient to add height. For cakes and muffins use an egg-replacer made up of starches. Also try using vinegar and baking powder. These two ingredients alter the taste of chocolate sweets very little, but give the added height needed.

  4. Step 4

Play with your food. Test out different baking ingredients. Use silken tofu mixed with vanilla and sugar to make a very tasty cheesecake. You can also use silken tofu for frosting, breads and dipping sauces for fruits. There are also many tofu cream cheeses, sour creams and ice creams out there. The consistency is much like real dairy based goods, but it is all soy.

  5. Step 5

Try an alternative. Instead of using dairy milk to bake, use soy or almond milk to make vegan sweets. The taste is not very different from the dairy stuff, and no animals were harmed in making it. Soy milk can be used for cookies, muffins and brownies.
