How to Decide Where to Settle Down

Change your location and you can change your outlook on life. While your career may be foremost on you mind, you may want to consider that modifying where you live could be a boon to your career, whether the opportunity is present--or not. When you decide where to settle down, invest in your ambition, not simply what the job market has to offer you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Choose to follow your dreams. Select locales breathe life into specific trades, which if that is your pursuit, should already be attractive to you. Business and finance professionals find themselves in New York; showbiz inclined individuals gravitate toward Los Angeles.
Step2
Consider where you want to live. If a metropolitan life is not for you, then the higher salary (and consequently, higher cost of living) of the big city professional may not hold sway over your decision to relocate.
Step3
Budget according to how much of your potential wages you are wiling to spend on housing and commuting. Beyond that, factor in the cost of simply living in the big city--like entertainment and security, but still leave enough room for savings.
Step4
Examine the area's potential for growth, especially in the economic sense. Bustling business centers are a good indication that, in the event you change careers, you may forego another move. This is why you decide where to settle down--to reduce the possibility of another move.
Step5
Speak with members of the community, if you know any, or with professionals already working in your chosen field. Finally, examine the area's chamber of commerce to calculate the growth of business and future economic possibilities.
