More and more women are choosing to quit their jobs to become a stay at home mom. When leaving the workplace, it is best not to burn any bridges. There are ways to quit a job that show respect for the company so that you part on a positive note.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Make sure it is financially possible to stay home before planning to quit. Plan a budget based on the remaining salary.
Step2
Save up extra money. Ideally, living off of one salary for the time remaining at the job is a good idea. It helps establish the new budget, and provides some savings for when money gets tight. It is also possible that the employer will choose to terminate employment before the two weeks is up. Make sure there is enough to cover that time period just in case.
Step3
Submit a letter of resignation. It should be professional and offer a general statement on why employment is being terminated. Address it to management along with the last day of employment. Print it off and sign it, so that documentation is provided legally.
Step4
Be courteous. Help with the job transition as much as possible. Hand over assignments, job duties, notes and other information. Let any contacts know who they will be dealing with instead after the quit date.
Step5
Train your replacement. Get the new person accustomed to their new job duties. Training them early gives them time to ask questions they may have regarding projects or anything else.
Step6
Be professional. Work hard up until the very end.
