How to Display a Quilt
Quilts, whether they are made by family members, souvenirs or antiques, are a great way to tastefully decorate any room. To display a quilt correctly often depends on the age of the quilt and how much protection it needs from light and the elements. Antique quilts are a challenge to display, but newer quilts are much easier and need little preparation.

1
Display a newer quilt on a guest bed or on a bed that gets little use. Lay the quilt flat and touch it as little as possible to keep it from being soiled by constant handling.
-
2
Hang an antique quilt on a wall. Use a specially made quilt display glass that will keep the quilt from being pressed by the glass. Make sure the room isn't too humid to keep the quilt from growing mildew.

3
Keep the light dim in a room where an antique quilt is displayed. Keep direct sunlight away from the quilt with heavy curtains or blinds.
-
4
Take the quilt down after a few months and rotate it with another quilt or other wall art to lengthen the life of any quilt.
-
5
Cover a wooden frame with fabric attached with staples. Make sure the staples are impervious to rust to prevent any discolorations. Sew the quilt securely onto the secured fabric for a safe display that won't stretch the quilt's shape.
-
6
Vacuum any displayed quilt regularly to keep it in top condition. Remove the glass from a glass-fronted display unit in order to vacuum the quilt.
