Step 1
Watch for a decline in libido. As testosterone decreases in a man's body in his mid-40s, his sex drive starts to wane, too. He may not enjoy sex as much when he does have it. There are herbal supplements, Viagra and other erectile dysfunction drugs to improve this problem during male menopause.
-
Step 2
Look at a possible increase in the number of hours of sleep per night. General energy decreases along with sex drive, and a man may need to go to sleep earlier at night. Taking cat naps to renew energy during the day becomes commonplace after age 45.

Step 3
Concentrate--mental acuity wavers from time to time during male menopause. No, it's not a precursor to Alzheimer's, but short term memory losses are common so it's important to recognize this difference. A man may forget where he put his keys or wallet, for example.
-
Step 4
Cheer up. Depression sets in during male menopause, so be aware and know how to recognize the symptoms of depression. While these emotions may be more subtle than the ones suffered by menopausal women, they still can wreak havoc on a middle-aged man's confidence and self-esteem.

Step 5
Check that waistline. Consider the fact that men gain weight more easily during male menopause. A good diet and exercise routine is necessary to control weight. Exercise will also increase sex drive and help battle depression.
