Tile scraps are often thrown away after a tiling project is finished, but there are many projects that can benefit from them. From crafts to useful outdoor items, tile scraps are a durable, beautiful item with a wide range of uses. They can either be shaped for very specialized projects, or they can be used as is, jagged edges and all.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make a mosaic with your tile scraps. Keep plenty of tile pieces and fit them together in any configuration you choose. Create a picture from them, or simply make an abstract design. Use ceramic paints to change the colors of some tile scraps to fit the design.

  2. Step 2

Use grout to seal in the spaces around the tiles. Spray a tile sealer onto the mosaic once the grout is dry.

  3. Step 3

Create a mosaic-top table. Get a table with a flat top, and piece your mosaic together on the top. Use a strong adhesive on the top of the table to affix your tile scraps to it.

  4. Step 4

Craft mosaic drink coasters using your tile scraps. Paint the tiles if desired, or use them in their natural colors. Shape the tile scraps using a pair of tile nippers. If the tile scraps are too small to form a coaster alone, use ceramic glue to hold a few pieces together.

  5. Step 5

Make a stepping stone for the yard or garden. Use the mosaic method to hold the tiles together on a flat, round surface with an adhesive. Use grout to fill in the spaces. Nip the edges of the tile scraps to maintain the round shape of your backer material.
