Step 1
Work with animals. Get a job at a veterinary clinic or an animal sanctuary, or you can walk and groom pets for people you know. Many times, this experience is necessary to help you gain acceptance to a veterinary medicine program.
-
Step 2
Apply to and successfully complete a veterinary medicine program. All veterinarians and veterinary inspectors are required to complete the necessary training.
-
Step 3
Decide if you want a specialty. Animals come in all shapes and sizes, and it's normal for some veterinary inspectors to feel more comfortable treating certain animals and not others. Specialty medicine is important in animal care.
-
Step 4
Determine where you want to work. Veterinary inspectors are found all over the world. If you have a dream to work abroad, you might be able to do so with this job. Mostly, veterinary inspectors are found in Europe and other English speaking countries.
-
Step 5
Choose a career path. You can work with animals or you can take a different route. Some veterinary inspectors work to maintain adequate living conditions for animals while others work for the government. Veterinary inspectors also have the option to teach or conduct research.
