How to Cook Pork

Pork, the meat of pigs, makes a tasty meal containing vitamins and protein. Pork comes in different cuts like roast, chops and ribs. Pork also includes, ham, sausage and bacon. Follow these tips to cook pork in a variety of ways.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Roasting pan
  • Oven
  • Water and oil
  • Frying pan
  • Onion, red cabbage, sauerkraut and sauce
  • Cooking sheet
  • Barbeque grill
  • Mushrooms or mushroom soup
  • Vegetables
  • Rice
  • Pitas
  • Crock Pot
Step1
Roast a whole piece of pork in the oven. Place the pork into a roasting pan with a little water in the bottom. Cover and cook. Cooking time depends on cut and size of roast so check a cook book for accurate cooking time.
Step2
Fry pork chops in a frying pan with a bit of oil or water. Cook uncovered until meat is done all the way through. You can add chopped onions or red cabbage to the pan for extra flavor. Pork chops can also be breaded or glazed.
Step3
Boil pork ribs in a pot of water for about an hour to get them tender. Remove them from the pot. Place them on a cooking sheet or barbeque grill. Cover with sauce and cook in the oven or on the barbeque until crispy.
Step4
Bake pork chops in the oven with sauerkraut or red cabbage. Or cook chops with mushrooms or in mushroom soup until well done.
Step5
Cut cooked pork into pieces and add to stir fry. Pour in your favorite sauce. Add a variety of vegetables. Cook until vegetables are tender. Serve over rice or on pitas.
Step6
Boil ham in a small amount of water or place in crock pot with a small amount of water and cook until tender. Precooked ham takes less time than raw ham.
Step7
Deep fry pieces of battered pork in hot oil. Add the battered pork to sweet and sour sauce. Serve over rice.
Step8
Fry bacon until crispy. Keep heat low to avoid splattering. Fry sausages until cooked through to the center.

Tips & Warnings

  • Serve pork with apple sauce.
  • Cold sliced pork tastes a bit like chicken. You can use it in sandwiches.
  • Check if your ham is fully cooked. Some are fully cooked and some aren't.
  • Don't eat ham cold unless it has been fully cooked.
