Fruit comes in a variety of sizes and colors. You can find a large variety year round. Follow these tips to eat fruit and add nutrition to your meal.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Skewers
  • Chocolate
  • Cereal and oatmeal
  • Baked good mix
  • Pie or tart shells
  • Milk
  • Ice cream
  • Ice cubes
  • Juice
  • Cinnamon and raisons
  • Nuts and fruit
  1. Step 1

Wash fresh fruit like apples and pears and take a bite or peel the skin off and eat the inside. Oranges, grapefruits, lemons, limes and bananas should be peeled before eating. Discard the peels.

  2. Step 2

Chop the fruit into chunks to make a fruit cup or fruit salad. Put fruit chunks on skewers to make fruit kebabs. Dip in melted chocolate for a chocolate fondue.

  3. Step 3

Throw handfuls of cut up fruit over cereal or toss into hot oatmeal for a tasty breakfast dish.

  4. Step 4

Add fruit to baked goods like cookies, pies, cakes and fruit cake. Add to the mix before baking and then bake as usual. Add cooked berries or peaches to turnovers, tarts and pies.

  5. Step 5

Combine various fruits together with milk or ice cream and blend to create fruit smoothies. You can also eliminate the milk and ice cream and add ice cubes and juice instead.

  6. Step 6

Bake fruit in bread or buns for a sweeter tasting bread. You can combine cinnamon and raisins to make raisin bread. Or you can combine fruit and nuts to make a fruit bread.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check a recipe book before adding fruit to baked goods. Some fruits like pineapple or lemons might be too bitter without the right sugar combination.
