How to Make Rock Polish

Things You'll Need

  • Rock polisher

  • Funnel

  • 1/2 cup coarse sand

  • Fine strainer

  • 1/2 cup medium-coarse sand

  • 1/2 cup fine sand

  • Towel

Rock polishers grind away the surface of coarse rocks in varying degrees, ultimately transforming them into smooth, vibrant stones. Step 1

Take the barrel off of a rock polisher and place a funnel into the opening. Pour in 1/2 cup of coarse sand, 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of rocks. Place the barrel back onto the rock polisher and run the polisher for one week. The coarse sand will remove major areas of roughness from the rocks.

Pour the contents of the barrel through the fine strainer and rinse off the rocks with water.

Step 3

Place the funnel back into the opening of the rock polisher barrel and pour in 1/2 cup of medium-coarse sand, 1 cup of water and the rocks. Place the barrel back onto the rock polisher and run the polisher for another week. The medium-coarse sand will smooth down the surface to make the rocks rounded.

Step 4

Pour the contents of the barrel through the fine strainer and rinse off the rocks with water.

Step 5

Place the funnel back into the opening of the rock polisher barrel and pour in 1/2 cup of fine sand, 1 cup of water and the rocks. Place the barrel back onto the rock polisher and run the polisher for a final week. The fine sand will polish the round rocks to appear shiny and glossy.

Step 6

Pour the contents of the barrel through the fine strainer and rinse off the rocks with water. Pour the rocks onto a towel to dry.

Warning

Rock polishers can be very loud.
