Observe young children for seizures. Although they are rare, seizures may be another symptom to make the diagnosis in children under two-years-old.

Visit your doctor as soon as possible. The shigella bacteria are very easily transferred from one person to another.

Have the necessary lab tests done for a trustworthy diagnosis. The doctor will send your stool sample to the lab where the germs will be grown and identified.
