Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go over your parents' medical insurance. It is important to know about coverage. Look over the insurance policy carefully to understand what medical services are covered.

  2. Step 2

Find a doctor that is under your parents' medical coverage. Most insurance providers have a list of doctors that accept the insurance. Find doctors in your local area. This will make the commute easier for you and your elderly parent.

  3. Step 3

Interview doctors. Make a list of prospects to consider. By interviewing doctors ahead of time, you can find the best suited doctor for you and your elderly parent.

  4. Step 4

Call for an appointment for general check-ups or sick visits when you have found a reliable doctor. Write down the time of the appointment and try to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the scheduled visit.

  5. Step 5

Make time for the medical visit. Once the appointment has been set make sure that you don't have anything else scheduled for the same time. Allow yourself plenty of time for travel and the doctor visit itself.

  6. Step 6

Visit the medical provider, signing in once you arrive at the doctor's office. If there have been any changes in insurance or personal information, then let the person behind the desk know.
