Step 1
Choose the location for the plant. It is important to choose a room with windows and plenty of light.
-
Step 2
Determine how much sun the plant gets in the area you have chosen.
-
Step 3
Decide how much time you have to take care of the pant. Different plants require different amounts of care for watering and pruning. You or your co-workers need to have the time to take care of the plant.
-
Step 4
Assign the plant a particular amount of space in the room. Ask your co-workers if the plant's location works for them so that you are not invading anyone's space.
-
Step 5
Assess the reasons you have for buying a plant. Green, leafy plants filter carbon monoxide out of the air and add oxygen. These plants are good for smaller areas. Palm trees remove airborne chemicals. If the plant is going to be more of a decoration, choose a small flowering plant.
-
Step 6
Determine exactly how much you want to spend on the plant. Exotic plants are more expensive while more common plants are cheaper. If a family member or friend has a plant you like, ask them for a cutting and allow it to root in a glass or jar before planting it.
-
Step 7
Learn about plants you are interested in. Visit a local nursery and ask about the plants that are appealing to you. Find out how much the plant grows. Some plants start out small and grow until they practically take over the room.
-
Step 8
Buy the plant. Nurseries, farmers markets and department stores with garden departments all have plants to chose from. Inspect the plant for bugs, rot and mold before you buy it. Visit multiple stores to find the best deals and a variety of plants to choose from.
