Veterans with G.I. Bill benefits are eligible for the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Licensing and Certification benefits for certification tests taken on or after March 1, 2001. So, if you qualify you can be reimbursed by the VA for professional certification tests like welding. Read on to learn how to get the VA to pay for welding certification.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Determine your qualification for VA Licensing and Certification benefits by completing an application for educational benefits. Be sure to include your VA file number on the top of each page.
Step2
Find out if your test is approved by including on the application the name of the test, the date the test was taken or will be taken and the cost and location of the test.
Step3
Write a letter of authorization to the testing center to release your test results to the VA. Be sure to sign and date it. The VA will need written proof from a qualified third-party to show that you took the test.
Step4
Send in the application for reimbursement, the supporting documentation that shows both your authorization to receive benefits as well the testing and certificate authorization to be covered to your local VA office.
