After a video project has been completed in Final Cut Pro and exported using Compressor, it still needs to be fashioned into a DVD. This process, called authoring, is handled in the Final Cut Pro suite by Apple's DVD Studio Pro software. Using the provided templates makes authoring quick and easy. Read on to learn how to author a DVD using DVD Studio Pro.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click the "Import" button in the assets list in the bottom right (in most DVD Studio screen arrangements) or by choosing it under the "File" tab. From the list generated, select the MPEG-2 and audio files that were created for the DVD using Final Cut Pro and Compressor.

  2. Step 2

Drag the video file and the corresponding audio file (if more than one audio file was generated, pick the smallest) into the green box marked "Track 1." Double click on the green box so that the lower right hand pane becomes the Track inspector (it will say "Track" at the top). Select "Menu 1" from the drop down list next to "End Jump."

  3. Step 3

Double click on the blue box labeled "Menu." Select a template from the upper right and drag it into the center viewer (the "Menu" tab should be highlighted). Allow a minute for the template to initialize.

  4. Step 4

Import pictures to drag into any gray boxes with arrows on the menu template. Import them in the same manner as the video and audio files. Drag them from the asset list to the gray boxed they should populate.

  5. Step 5

Select a button and rename it "Play." On the drop down list next to target select "Track 1." This button will now activate the main video file. Delete any unnecessary buttons.

  6. Step 6

Click on the "Simulate" icon at the top of the screen (in the center) to view and simulation of the DVD.

  7. Step 7

Insert a blank DVD and click the "Burn" icon (next to "Simulate") if satisfied with the DVD.
