Step 1
Link any stereo pairs if not already linked. Select the first sound file, and then press the "Apple" button while selecting the second. Hold the "Apple" button and "L" key to link the files as a stereo pair.
-
Step 2
Select the "Effects" tab in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Click the arrow to the left of "Audio Transitions" to see the list of stock transitions (Cross Fade 0dB and Cross Fade +3dB).
-
Step 3
Choose the fade you wish to use (0dB uses a linear fade out to in so the volume dips in the middle of a fade from one sound file to another while +3dB fades remain constant in volume and just fade from one audio source to the next) and drag it to the junction of the sound files. This will create a fade between the two sources one second in length.
-
Step 4
Double click the fade in the Timeline if a longer fade is required. It will appear in the Viewer window and time can be adjusted by changing the 1:00 duration in the counter at the top left corner of the Viewer window.
-
Step 5
Applying either fade to the beginning or end of a single clip will create a fade in or fade out effect.
-
Step 6
Render and save the project.
