Step 1
Purchase a trampoline with a net. Choose a trampoline with a net that prevents contact with the expanding springs. A safe trampoline has a heavily-padded cover over the springs.
-
Step 2
Set up the trampoline according to the manufacturer's instructions. Match the trampoline's weight guidelines to the children and adults who will be using it and install the trampoline on level ground.
-
Step 3
Provide a safe entry way into the trampoline. Use a sturdy ladder that is attached directly to the trampoline with non-skid pads on the treads.
-
Step 4
Limit trampoline use to one person at a time. Studies show that a majority of the injuries that occur with trampoline use result when two or more users are jumping at the same time.
-
Step 5
Create a list of rules to be followed, and communicate those rules to each user. Recommended rules for trampoline safety include: One jumper at a time. No stunts. No outside items allowed in the trampoline. Use controlled jumps. No food or gum in your mouth while on the trampoline. Stay inside the net.
-
Step 6
Ban individuals who do not follow the rules from using the trampoline until the rules can be understood and followed.
