How to Become an Olympic Diver

Olympic diving is an incredible event to watch. The control, grace, and sheer ability of the divers is awe-inspiring. Do you wish to become an Olympic diver? It's possible, but it does take a lot of work. Read this eHow to learn how to become an Olympic diver.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Join a Local Diving Association Program if you are under 18. There are 300 LDA programs across the USA. Follow the link to find a program near you.

  2. Step 2

    Begin competing in LDA competitions. As you advance in the standings, you will be able to proceed to the next level.

  3. Step 3

    Advance to region championships and then the National Championships. The top girl and boy divers are chosen to form a Junior National Team.

  4. Step 4

    Become a member of USA Diving by contacting your local Registration Chair. These are found online at the USA Diving site. You may have to become a member of a chapter in a state near yours if one is not available to join in your own state.

  5. Step 5

    Compete in National Championship competitions and place in the top of whatever event in which you compete.

  6. Step 6

    Qualify for the Olympic trials by placing well at the US Diving-designed events. The top 2 finishers in the 1-meter springboard, 3-meter springboard and 5-, 7.5- or 10-meter platform are chosen for the Olympic Dive team.
