Every local tavern and bar with more than two televisions subscribes to the satellite football packages that will allow them to show any football game they want. Sometimes you have no choice but to travel to one of these locales in order to watch your favorite team play. You will find a wide range of individuals watching these games from the guy who just wants to be surrounded with people, to the guy who has the mortgage riding on the result of the game. Follow these steps to maximize your experience of watching a football game at a sports bar.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Take a friend. You do not need to necessarily be fans of the same team or need to watch the same game while joined at the hip. Some people feel uncomfortable going anywhere by themselves. If that is you, have a friend who is a fan go with you to watch football at the sports bar.
Step2
Find the television with your game on it. The good sports bars will post what game is showing on what television. They know that many fans have no other choice than to go there to watch their team's game. If the games are not posted under the televisions, ask the bartender where your game is showing.
Step3
Get comfortable. Football games last at least three hours so you do not want to be sitting at the bar craning your neck to see the screen.
Step4
Stay under control. It is fine to cheer. In fact, it is expected. So feel free to let out a hoot when your team makes a big play. On the other hand, the worst thing you can do when watching a football game at a sports bar is to cheer wildly for every little play. The second quarter incompletion on second and four or the two yard run on first down in the third quarter are not game changing plays. Do not yell as if you just won the lottery.
Step5
Have a little fun with the other team's fans. It will be easy to notice who the fans of the team your favorite team is playing are. Do not get personal or insulting, but let them know you expect your team to win. Maybe even put a platter of hot wings on the outcome of the game. Just make sure you act like you are going to the bathroom and then skip out the back if your team loses.
Step6
Watch some of the other action. If there is a great finish or an exciting sequence on another television, watch it. Take advantage of the fact that you are watching a football game at a sports bar and look at a couple of the thirty other televisions surrounding you. Many times you can watch more than one game at once with the time between plays.
Step7
Stay for a nightcap. Whether your team wins or loses have one last beer or soda to wrap up the day to either celebrate or commiserate.
