Food Network has been a household name for years and is a source of tried and true recipes that many of us use everyday. Food Network has their own chefs and a test kitchen to create recipes, but they are always looking for great ideas from their viewers. Use these steps to learn how to submit your recipe ideas to Food Network in a variety of ways.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Enter a contest. Shows on the Food Network often run contests asking for great recipes. The winner will usually receive a cash prize as well as have their recipe featured in a show and on the website.

  2. Step 2

Apply to be on the new show "Ultimate Recipe Showdown." They test recipes that are submitted, then select 54 finalists who are flown to Los Angeles for the filming of the show where their recipes compete to win $10,000!

  3. Step 3

Submit recipes to your favorite Food Network chefs. They often host viewer's choice type shows where you can submit a recipe and they might choose it to be on the air.

  4. Step 4

Contact Food Network to ask about opportunities in their recipe development department and to send you a copy of their writer's guidelines. If you handle this professionally going through the proper steps, you will get farther than if you don't.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do a search for "contests" on the Food Network site. There are usually at least 75 active contests.
