How to Plan Office Olympics

If the TV series "The Office" has taught us anything, it's how to waste time at work. And what better way to waste time than to plan a day of Office Olympics? When the boss is away, the workers will play.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Gather the contenders. Look for anyone who is falling asleep at their desks. They'll jump at the chance to play some games. Hang up sign-up sheets on the bathroom stall doors, so that everyone sees them.

  2. Step 2

Compile a list of events by brainstorming with your colleagues. Think about your office's layout and utilize the furniture and equipment that is there, when planning your "Olympic" events. You could have contenders speed walk through the office with full cups of coffee, race through a maze of cubicles on their desk chairs or see who can shotput a stapler the farthest down the hallway.

  3. Step 3

Set an Olympic ambiance. Make paper doves from post-it paper and hang them from the ceiling. Create a fake Olympic torch out of rolled up paper and have someone make the rounds of the office before the games begins, to add a touch of authenticity to the event.

  4. Step 4

Commence with your Office Olympics and determine your first, second and third place winners for each event.

  5. Step 5

Hold closing ceremonies at the end of the games. Pass out "bronze," "silver" and "gold" medals made from paper clips or any other metallic items that you can find around the office.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may have a problem if your boss finds out that you've been holding Office Olympics when you're supposed to be working.
