A food drive is operated by volunteers because it's a non-profit service. Finding volunteers can seem difficult because you're asking for people's time that most are limited on this day and age. The key is to get the word out that a food drive is being hosted and volunteers are needed. Make sure that you give people ample notice to find the time to volunteer for the food drive.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Hang up fliers at churches, daycares, schools, laundry facilities and grocery stores. Wherever you think there would be people interested in volunteering and the management will let you advertise.

  2. Step 2

Get senior management people interested in the food drive. They can offer incentives to their employees who volunteer. They can also spread the word to their customers or clients.

  3. Step 3

Advertise for volunteers in your local newspaper or Pennysaver magazine. There may be a small cost but it would definitely be worth it for the people you can help with the food drive.

  4. Step 4

Post an ad on craigslist.com. It is a free classified website where you can advertise events like the food drive and need for volunteers. Just click on "Post to Classifieds" and choose the heading it would fall under and the city you want it advertised in.

  5. Step 5

Ask your local grocery store if you can put fliers on people's cars or hand them out to customers. A lot of them will let you advertise the food drive and need for volunteers if they feel it's for a good cause.
