Instructions
  1. Step 1

Recruit families to participate. Decide how many children will be invited and how many houses you want to participate. Ask some of the parents of the children invited, and neighbors to host.

  2. Step 2

Have an initial meeting for families that will be participating. Have a date and time confirmed for the party. Plan how long the children will stay at each house. 15 minutes to a half hour is a good estimate. Decide if children will be walking from house to house or be transported by cars. Discuss who will be paying for everything.

  3. Step 3

Put together a list of activities and games for each hosting house to select from at the meeting. Each house should have a different activity or games. If selections are made a head of time there will not be the same activity at two or three locations. Activity ideas include creating a haunted forest in the backyard, painting pumpkins and a treasure hunt.

  4. Step 4

Plan a menu. Have each hosting house decide what light snack they will be providing. . Some ideas are a veggie tray with dip, pizza rolls and cheese and crackers. Some hosts may just want to have hot chocolate or cider.

  5. Step 5

Arrange for chaperones. If you will driving kids to the next house be sure to have drivers with big enough vehicles. Even if the kids will be walking to the next house they need chaperones to keep them on track.

  6. Step 6

Send out the invitations. Be sure to include all party information and anything the children will need to bring such as a coat, flashlight or a trick or treat bag unless you will be providing one. Provide the names and address of the houses the children will be spending time at, so parents will know where they will be. Ask parents to RSVP.

  7. Step 7

Confirm all details. Have a second meeting to go over everything. Make a print out to give to all hosting houses with the approximate time the kids will be coming. Review what food each house will have and what activity or game will be played.
