Soap operas have been around for decades with loyal and fanatical viewers. You can be one of those loyal fans by keeping up with your favorite shows even if you work, go to school or are busy taking care of your children during those important daytime hours. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Buy soap opera magazines off the newsstand or at your local grocery store. They are usually published weekly or monthly and provide recaps of your favorite shows. The publications also print teasers for upcoming episodes.
Step2
Browse soap opera websites online to keep up with the latest happenings in your favorite fictional town. Many sites offer daily recaps or even transcripts to see exact dialogue from each scene.
Step3
Join an online soap opera discussion group. After other members get to know your tastes and preferences, they can gear their recaps to fit what you are most interested in and leave out the characters you don't care to keep up with.
Step4
Set your recorder to record your soap operas daily. This works with a VCR, DVD-R, DVR or TiVo. You can program your recorder for the same time each weekday instead of resetting it manually every morning. Make sure to have a tape in that has plenty of room to record, in case you don't get to watch your episodes every night. You may find yourself watching the entire week's worth on the weekends. But by recording, you can fast forward through commercials and scenes that don't interest you.
Step5
Meet at the water cooler at work with other soap opera viewers to keep each other up-to-date. You can make a deal where you each have certain days you are responsible for watching or getting recaps for, and summarizing it for work the next day.
