How to Make a Slip and Slide

Slip and slides are fun for people of all ages. Children love them as a way to cool off in the summer and adults love them for the thrill of going fast. If you make your own slip and slide you will be the life of the party during the hot summer months. Follow these steps to make your own slip and slide.

Instructions

    • 1

Head to your local Home Depot or Lowe's and look in the garden department for a large, smooth tarp. Make sure the tarp is strong so it doesn't tear holes in it when you slide.

    • 2

Put the tarp on a hill, facing downward. Make sure there is plenty of thick grass so when you slide down you don't skid onto cement or dirt. It will result in very painful abrasions.

    • 3

Lubricate the slide with dishwashing liquid. You will go extremely fast and most importantly, smoothly.

    • 4

Lay the water hose on the slide. Keep it running at all times. Make sure that it is secured at the top of the slide so it doesn't run and slide directly onto it.

    • 5

Run and drop onto the slip and slide. Go down on your bottom, stomach or feet. It is all up to you as long as you have fun.

Tips & Warnings

  • Slip and slides can be extremely dangerous if not used properly. Make sure there are no trees, stumps, rocks or streets in front of the slip and slide. You are moving at a high rate of speed and will not be able to control where you stop.
