Butlers work in the management of wealthy households. A butler may have several underbutlers he's responsible for, or may have a much larger staff made up of maids, under-butlers and gardeners. Currently there are about 50,000 butlers taking care of their employers' homes and staff. Butlers are well compensated for the service they provide and the number of jobs remains steady. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Know your wines. Learn how to serve wines properly, how to store them and how to choose a proper wine for a meal. Receive training through a wine class or by extensive independent study, as wine care is one of the main duties of a proper butler.
Step2
Study at a butler school if possible. Look for the best butler schools in Europe, which offer comprehensive butler courses as well as offering job placement services.
Step3
Take a correspondent course in butlering if taking a course at a brick and mortar school is impractical.
Step4
Keep a clean record, including no arrests and not partaking in questionable activities, as most employers run a thorough background check.
Step5
Learn the best possible manners for every conceivable situation. Understand business etiquette, the proper etiquette for services performed on a yacht, the proper way to serve a large party and anything else a potential employer might require. Be sure your butler course teaches all of these and assemble your own resources to study on your own anything the course doesn't cover.
Step6
Dress and groom properly. Keep clean and tidy at all times in order to find a prestigious job as this reflect well on your potential employer.
