Betting on boxing has been a pastime since the 18th century. From its glorious years in 60s and 70s to the corruption of boxing promoters, the sport has held on to its betting tradition. Betting on boxing gets complicated because of all the factors involved. With the right knowledge and information, and by reading on, you can learn to make the best boxing bets.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Study the boxer's previous matches. Having information about the boxers and their abilities makes it easier to place an informed bet.

  2. Step 2

Shop around before you place a bet. The odds and money lines at different sports books are different. Get the best odds for your bet.

  3. Step 3

Learn the basics of money lines. Money lines are based on the records of the boxers and the amount of the wager. For example, if the favorite boxer's money line is -170 to win $100, you have to bet $170 on the favorite. If you bet $100 on the other boxer or the underdog and their money line is +150 and they win, you win $150. To bet on a draw, bet $100 on a draw whose money line is $800. You win $800 if the match ends in a draw.

  4. Step 4

Pick in which round the match will end. Picking when the fight ends is another option when betting. This type of wager is normally picked by over- or under-bets. For example, you bet on the fight ending in under eight rounds or over eight rounds.

  5. Step 5

Choose a parlay. A parlay bet includes two bets in one. Such as, the fight's winner and if the fight ends by a knockout or decision.

Tips & Warnings
  • Popular matches usually have lower odds. They yield less gain because of the amount of people betting on the match.
