Many mothers look for a place where they can go to get support and advice from other mothers. These steps will help you learn how to start and lead a non-secular mother's support group that is fun and rewarding for you and the group members.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check out what kind of support groups are already located in your city. Talk to the leaders of parenting groups to get advice. Make your mother's support group unique to your area.

  2. Step 2

Pick a location, day and time to hold your mother's support group meetings. Meet at someone's home or find a space at your local library or community center. Think about how often you want to meet and plan a time that is convenient for the majority of the mothers in your group.

  3. Step 3

Think about hiring babysitters. You will need someone to take care of the children so the group members can enjoy the time together. Hire child care, look for volunteers or take turns watching the children.

  4. Step 4

Advertise your support group to reach mothers in need of support. Place ads in the paper and utilize the Internet. Join different online communities where other mothers communicate and let them know about your group.

  5. Step 5

Start a spreadsheet or database of mothers who are interested so you can send announcements and meeting reminders.

  6. Step 6

Decide if you will use a book to guide the meeting topics or plan individual topics. There are many good non-secular self help and advice books that you can find on online or in your local bookstore.

  7. Step 7

Lead the meetings by including time for the mothers to discuss parenting issues. Allow the agenda to move off track if need be. Give everyone equal time to speak. Be accepting and caring towards the women in your group.
