Playing games on the PlayStation 2 with friends and family is a great way to pass the time. But at times it is difficult for everyone to get together to play in person. This is where the Internet comes in. PlayStation 2 allows players to hook the PlayStation 2 to the internet and compete with other users remotely. This way the family and friends can have fun and compete from anywhere at any time.

From Quick Guide: Playstation 2 Gaming

Things You'll Need:

  • PlayStation 2
  • PlayStation 2 network adapter
  • Memory card
  • 2 Ethernet cables
  • Broadband router
  • Computer with network interface card

    Direct Connection

  1. Step 1

Make sure the PlayStation 2 and Internet connection source are turned off. Now connect the PlayStation 2 to modem, router, or Internet wall outlet.

  2. Step 2

Turn on the PlayStation 2 and insert the network access software that came with the game console. Also turn on the Internet connection if necessary.

  3. Step 3

Click through the on-screen installation menu to ensure proper configuration. If there are any problems please check the cable connections and users' guide for more instructions.

  4. Step 4

Check to make sure the home computer has Internet access. If the computer cannot access the Internet, verify that all the devices are connected and the power is on. If everything is connected and the Internet still does not work, consult the router configuration manual for additional support.

  5. Indirect Connection

  9. Step 4

Turn all of the devices on. All of the devices meaning the computer, router and PlayStation 2.

on 8/19/2009 You don't need the software if you have a game with built in setup, save the info on a memory card and it works for all games as far as I know, this may only be for the slim models though.
