5. Target specific textile companies and manufacturers that you want to work for. Select from major retailers or special niche manufacturers. Submit your resume and cover letter to these companies and follow up with a call to see if you can talk to the personnel manager about employment opportunities.

6. Enter fashion design contests like "Project Runway." Gain valuable exposure and make industry contacts.
