New Year's Eve has the potential to be a fun and exciting holiday. Turn your New Year's celebration into an unforgettable vacation by taking your party to Las Vegas. Vegas cranks everything up for New Year's Eve and gives visitors and locals alike a great time until the sun comes up on the new year.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Plan your trip early. Flights are difficult to book at the last minute during the holiday season and hotels fill up fast. Keep in mind that most hotels on the strip have a three night minimum for the New Year holiday. If you plan to stay less than three nights, try a hotel off the main strip.

  2. Step 2

Stay at a hotel or motel. Hotels in Las Vegas raise their rates during the holiday. To save money, stay at a hotel or motel off the strip. Rates for these rooms are considerably cheaper than those located directly on the strip. Hotels like Circus Circus, Treasure Island, The Mirage and The MGM Grand are less expensive than other hotels on the strip. More luxurious accommodations on the strip like The Bellagio and The Venetian are the most experience.

  3. Step 3

Enjoy the shows. Each hotel on the strip has their own special New Year's Eve entertainment. Some offer performances from singers like Celine Dion while others offer shows like Blue Man Group, Cirque Du Soleil or magic by David Copperfield. The Hard Rock Hotel holds "Rockin' in the New Year" and offers various bands and performers. There are many other shows and free entertainment to experience. Visit the Las Vegas website and browse through all of the entertainment available during your vacation.

  4. Step 4

Visit Fremont Street to see the free overhead laser light show.

  5. Step 5

Eat in at least one gourmet restaurant. Vegas' gourmet restaurants fill up fast on New Year's Eve so reserve your table early. Vegas has a wide variety of fine dining to choose from. All the hotels on the strip have a gourmet restaurants. The Eiffel Tower Restaurant located in the Paris Hotel sits 11 stories above the strip and serves French cuisine. The Picasso located inside The Bellagio Hotel also has French cuisine along with a romantic atmosphere. The Las Vegas website allows visitors to search restaurants by variety, style and price.

  6. Step 6

Pick a place to be when the New Year arrives. Many hotels and resorts have a fireworks show or special entertainment at midnight. Get to the place you want to be by 10 pm and prepare to wait there. The strip fills up fast. If you leave your spot, it won't be there when you return.
