Change Units of Measurement on a Rangefinder
Step1
Adjust units of measurement by choosing between the metric and standard systems. Traditional rangefinders line up both measurements next to each other to help users around the world get accurate readings. You can switch between the two standards on digital devices with a simple toggle switch.
Step2
Modify your eyepiece setting to magnify the power of your rangefinder lenses. You need to keep track of positive and negative diopters to change the clarity of images coming through the lens. A simple rotation of the eyepiece with your fingers will give you a better view.
Step3
Measure the level of magnification as you focus on a visual target. Camera makers have made this measurement easier by assigning each magnification level a number. This number is the exponential increase in clarity based on the distance covered.
Step4
Locate a settings menu on your digital rangefinder to change how measurements are displayed. You can arrange distance data in the viewing area or change the rangefinder's memory settings in a variety of ways based on your preferences.
Step5
Determine the increments of measurement used on your rangefinder before you change the preferred units of measurement. Most devices allow you to zoom in and out by the yard to give you finer control over the item you are viewing.
Step6
Practice measurements in your office or home to get a better feeling for available options on the device. You can mark off a predetermined distance to create a uniform practice area for different units of measurement.
Step7
Ensure the accuracy of your rangefinder's measurements with a fresh set of batteries. Switch in new batteries when you notice the display on your rangefinder is fading or flashing the battery sign.
