Fear is a limiting emotion, especially in the work place. By asking your employees to face their fear and participate in a ropes courses team building event, you can give them the tools they need to become more powerful decision makers on the job. Hang in There to Become a Stronger Team
-
1
Arrange for transportation to the ropes courses facility or provide your staff with a detailed map and directions to the event.
-
2
Work with an event facilitator to determine what the group's goals should be for the day, whether it's building trust among your staff or teamwork exercises. The facilitator should also schedule time to review your employees' individual goals for the day on the ropes.
-
-
3
Schedule time for your staff to warm up their muscles before tackling the ropes courses. These warm-up exercises can be conducted under the guidance of your course facilitator or may be done independently as an ice-breaking exercise.
-
4
Engage in a "trust" activity on the ropes where your staff partners up. Each team will spot each other on the low ropes course as they get a feel for the challenges of this kind of exercise. This is also the perfect opportunity to review any safety procedures for your day on the courses.
-
5
Request a team building exercise such as the "Bridge is Out" scenario. Conducted on low ropes courses, this exercise requires your team to create a path from one platform to another by using simple materials, such as boards or ropes.
-
6
Use an exercise such as cable walking to encourage support among your staff. With one or two participants on the cable at a time, the rest of your team must work as spotters and supporters as they make their way across from one platform to another.
-
7
Test your team when you use a beam exercise on the high or low ropes course. You can conduct this exercise of walking across a narrow beam using a blindfold. Use it to encourage your staff to develop physical and emotional balance.
