Websites are a great way to communicate with students and parents and they're easy to create using Google Page Creator. I will show you how you can create a great looking classroom website that is absolutely free. You will not have to register a .com name or pay any hosting fees. Googlepages make it easy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Gmail (google) account (FREE)
Step1
Go to Google Page Creator (see resources below).
Step2
You cannot create a website without a Gmail account so at this point you should sign up if you don't have one. You never have to use this email address but you should keep in mind that whatever you Gmail account name choose, that name will also be the name of your website. So, if you set up your account as “Kurt123@gmail.com” your URL will be www.kurt123@googlepages.com. You can create a new site with a new address later if you wish.
Step3
Sign in to the Google Page Creator. Read and agree to the terms and conditions and then click on "I'm ready to create my pages."
Step4
From the edit page you can create the title of the page, change the font and size of the text, add images (pictures) to your web page and add links to other pages within your site or other websites.
Step5
When you are happy with your homepage you can click on “create new page” to add other pages to your classroom website. These pages are not connected until you connect them by creating links between them. You will probably want to create a page for "class pictures", "homework", "class info" and so on.

Tips & Warnings

  • This is not intended to create a very complex website with animation.
