Not Forget To Take Daily Birth Control Pills

Babies are wonderful things. Babies are exceptionally wonderful when parents have planned to have them. And while we all do love surprises, most of us would rather not be surprised with a pregnancy. Here's some tips to avoid this particular gift ...

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

First thing, figure out the time and place that you are most likely to take the Pill consistently. Try to tie the habit of taking your Pill with something else you do at the same time every single day, like brushing your teeth in the morning.

  2. Step 2

Keep the pack of Pills in a conspicuous place as a visual reminder. I keep mine between our glass of toothbrushes and my makeup bag so it’s right there in the midst of the morning routine.

  3. Step 3

Set an alarm as an audio reminder. I have a friend who keeps her Pills by the bed with their own alarm clock. Every single morning, that alarm goes off and she takes the Pill without fail, even when she’s sleeping in. You could also set an alarm on your cell phone as a daily reminder.

  4. Step 4

Keep a spare pack of Pills in your purse. Occasionally, one of my kids will need me in the middle of my morning routine and I’ll leave the house without taking the Pill. As soon as I remember (and I always do with a slight sense of panic), I have the Pill conveniently on hand to take right then.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you’re hopeless at remembering the Pill, try a patch, a monthly shot, a Nuvaring, or an IUD.
