Things You’ll Need:

  • A first class or upper second class honours degree
  • High GPA if from North America and a high quality academic reference
Step1
To qualify for the Gates Scholarship you must apply to university through the normal channels. The scholarship panel will not accept applicants for courses. You must pursue one of the following full-time courses study. This could be a research course leading to the PhD degree, or a one-year post-graduate courses. You can apply for a second Bachelor degree as an Affiliated Student.
Step2
As mentioned in step 1, you must be accepted to Cambridge through the University's normal academic route. Check the university website or UCAS for information on how to apply to the course.
Step3
British universities have very structured course, to stand any chance of being accepted for the scholarship you will have to understand and be completely focused on the course you wish to study.
Step4
Good news if you are not accepted on to this scholarship, your application will be passed on to some of the other awards schemes so don't give up hope.

Tips & Warnings

  • The more you know about the course and the university the better, so get researching!
  • The awards are hard to come by, you have to commit yourself 100% of you stand any chance of winning the scholarship
