Have you been thinking about how to live without a car? There are great reasons to do so including saving money, help the environment and reduce US' dependency on foreign oil. If you own two cars, you should certainly consider downsizing to one car.

  1. Step 1

    Find out if your company offers subsidized carpooling, vanpools, bus/train passes.

  2. Step 2

    Join a car sharing program like FlexCar. They offer everything from a Mini to pickup trucks that you can rent by the hour or by the day.

  3. Step 3

    Go shopping with your friends and offer to pay for gas, lunch or drinks. When going for an evening, offer to be the designated driver.

  4. Step 4

    Find out if your employer offers 10 hours a day, 4 day work week. Telecommute. Consider moving closer to work.
