Pubs in Britain are popular hangouts where locals and visitors converge for beer, good food and a lively social time. Some London establishments have been around for centuries and have retained their traditional and often elegant interiors. If historic ambiance is your thing and you happen to find yourself in the West Kensington area of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, you might enjoy a pint or two at the classic pubs there.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Access the following websites--Fancyapint, PubClub, Beer in the evening, All in London and View London.
Step2
Find West Kensington pubs on these sites using the respective search parameters. You can search for a pub by name, alphabetic list, location and available facilities.
Step3
Sift through the results and get a list of West Kensington classic pubs.
Step4
View their addresses, phone numbers and photographs.
Step5
Read the detailed description of each pub. This can include the pub features, opening and closing timings, information on how you can reach the pub, the nearest stations, the nearest attractions for you to visit, link to the pub’s website if it has one and visitor opinions.
Step6
Check the Transport for London website and make a note of public transport timings if you plan on having a late night out. Most regular London tube and bus services shut down around 11:30 p.m. or slightly later. If you miss these, you can always go home in a cab or a night bus.

Tips & Warnings

  • Formerly pubs remained open only from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Now many pubs have licenses to remain open for 24 hours, but in reality only extend the usual closing time by a few hours.
  • You don’t have to dress up to visit the pubs. Comfortable casuals are fine.
  • Some pubs hold a children’s certificate, so you can take your children along.
  • You don't have to tip the bar staff.
  • You must be 18 or over to drink in a pub. If you are young-looking, have some form of personal ID with you.
  • Many pubs are now adopting a no-smoking policy, so you might not be able to light up while in the pub.
  • The pub is well within its right to turn away rowdy customers.
  • Don’t drink and drive.
