Ever saw a guy driving through traffic and putting everyone in danger? Want to be one of them, but without the danger part? Read on...

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • sanity
  • awareness
  • skill
  • anti-slide pedals
  • anti-slide steering wheel cover
  • wide rear view mirror
Step1
Awareness. Don't focus on your own vehicle, but put the attention on everyone else, looking and thinking as far ahead as you can. Don't neglect the side of the road, children, senior citizens, drunks and animals do unexpected things.
Step2
Install a wide internal rear view mirror which covers blind spots. It's the best modification ever.
Step3
Install anti-slide pedals. They need to be made of rubber and that's it. You'll have control at all times, even when it's raining and your soles are wet. Use shoes with soft soles for driving.
Step4
Install an anti-slide steering wheel cover. Many times your hands will be wet from rain or sweat, or numb from cold weather.

These three modifications affect the abilities of your car more than modifying your engine and suspension do. And they are very cheap.
Step5
Diversity. Know when to speed, and when to slow down. Your speed will depend on the situation around you, and you always need to adapt. For example, when you spot a kid playing on the side of the road, slow down to minimum speed and keep an eye on him / her as if it was your own child.
Step6
Use turn signals. Every time. Even if you're alone on the road. There's always someone benefiting from it, and instead of deciding should you use a turn signal or not, just do it, and worry about other things.
Step7
Check the blind spot for motorcycles only. Cars will never be in your blind spot if you're fast. Find a faster lane and switch to it. Assuming you're faster than everyone else, you can switch lanes without disrupting the traffic. You know those guys who switch to your lane and are slower than you? It's irritating. Do the opposite.
Step8
Don't push it. The whole idea is to take advantage of the opportunities which traffic gives to you. There's plenty of them. Follow the golden rule - if you can't do something without making someone change their car's speed (accelerate or brake), then don't do it. That's the difference between dynamic driving and dangerous driving.
Step9
Double clutch. You may or may not use it, but it will improve your overall feeling for your car.
Step10
Test your car's abilities out of traffic. Try to make it lose traction. Try to oversteer, try to understeer. Test the acceleration. Steer left, right, left, right when driving straight to see how the forces affect your car. Try making a turn in neutral gear and you'll see why it should never be done.

Tips & Warnings

  • The three mentioned modifications improve your driving skill.
  • Switching lanes when speeding means there are no cars in your blind spot.
  • Never make turns in a neutral gear or with a clutch depressed.
  • Use turn signals to indicate to others where you're going.
  • Keep an eye on motorcycles. They're fast and unpredictable.
