How to Remove Badge Adhesive From Boy Scout Uniforms

Badge adhesive is specifically designed for use with Boy Scouts of America badges. It offers adhesive backing in the shape of every Boy Scout badge. This allows parents to simply purchase the appropriate piece of adhesive, along with the badge and use it to stick the badge onto the uniform fabric. Sometimes, due to placing the badge incorrectly, you may need to remove the badge from the uniform. This is a fairly simple process with the correct solvent.

Instructions

  1. Solvent

    • 1

Use a solvent that is designed for adhesive removal. Apply it to the back of the patch. If the patch is already attached to the shirt, then peel up a small corner and work it in until you are able to loosen it.

    • 2

Remove any residue adhesive by applying more of the solvent until it is completely removed

    • 3

Leave the badge alone and let the solvent evaporate. Once this occurs, you can re-use the badge if needed.

    Vinegar

    • 4

Warm enough vinegar in a pan to saturate your badges.

    • 5

Soak a cloth in the heated vinegar.

    • 6

Apply the vinegar-soaked cloth to the badge. Hold it there until the badge is completely soaked, which should be two to three minutes. At this point the badge should peel off.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remove all the badges from the uniform at one time by taking it to your dry cleaner's and asking him to use the "Perc" method to clean it. This is a special solvent that will remove all the badges. Make sure and let the cleaner know that you wish to keep the badges, so he can save them for you.
