Things You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree
- Previous sales experience
-
Step 1
Research and learn which qualifications are required to become a jewelry sales rep. In addition to a working knowledge of jewelry, a bachelor's degree is often required, as well as sales experience. Other qualifications vary from employer to employer.
-
Step 2
Learn how to tell good jewelry from mediocre or fake jewelry. Be able to explain the differences to prospective clients. The more you know about your product, the better you will be able to sell it.
-
Step 3
Plan to be away from home a lot, as many jewelry sales rep positions will require travel above and beyond that required of other sales reps. Certain jewelry sales rep positions may even require regular trips out of the country to inspect and acquire gems for the manufacturing of jewelry.
-
Step 4
Be prepared to answer clients' questions about the quality of the jewelry, the demand for certain gems or styles of jewelry over others and a host of other topics. Many sales reps use a laptop in sales presentations for the purposes of researching such questions.
-
