Cirque du Soleil encompasses a series of spectacular shows, some of which travel from city to city, while others have permanent venues. The Cirque du Soleil is based out of Canada and has over the last 20 years created an entirely new form of circus, dubbed by many as the "cirque nouveau" (new circus). If you want to see Cirque du Soleil, you must first determine which of the shows you would be most interested in attending.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Parking and/or valet money
  • Admission tickets

Choose a Cirque du Soleil Venue

Step1
Select one of over a dozen Cirque du Soleil shows. Some are big top touring shows, others are arena touring shows and some are permanent (or resident) shows.
Step2
See a big top touring show that comes to a city near you. Shows such as "Alegria," "Quidam," "Dralion" and "Corteo" travel around the world.
Step3
Enjoy the thrill of an arena show. Although music plays a huge part in all Cirque du Soleil performances, shows such as "Delirium" are truly akin to rock concerts.
Step4
Travel to one of Cirque du Soleil's resident shows. Most of these are located in Las Vegas. Resident shows offer performances throughout the year and are generally attached to a particular hotel or resort.

Review the Cirque du Soleil Performances by Theme

Step1
Enjoy the classic music of the Beatles reinterpreted by the Cirque du Soleil in "Love" at the Mirage in Las Vegas.
Step2
Discover the aquatic enchantment of "O" at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. This spectacle is the only Cirque du Soleil show that is entirely themed around water.
Step3
Be dazzled by the eastern themed "Dralion." Although all Cirque du Soleil shows draw inspiration from circus acts across the world, this show truly highlights eastern philosophy.
Step4
Experience one of Cirque du Soleil's original shows in "Alegria" or "Saltimbanco."
Step5
Visit the Cirque du Soleil's official website to find detailed descriptions and pictures of all of their current shows (see Resources below).

Tips & Warnings

  • Be aware that certain Cirque du Soleil shows, such as "Zumanity," have adult themes. This cabaret-themed show may not be suitable for children.
  • Touring Cirque du Soleil shows only stay in a city for a few weeks at a time. Since the shows usually have a worldwide touring schedule, it may be years before a particular show returns to your area.
