Step 1
Decide what type of ornament exchange you'd like to have. Some exchanges involve purchased ornaments, while some prefer that ornaments are originals--crafted by hand.
-
Step 2
Determine who you'd like to invite. This party is popular for adult women, kids, or a moms and kids mixed group. Send invitations. Fit the theme by making individual ornaments with informative tags the actual invitation.
-
Step 3
Choose decorations. Decorate in a general Christmas theme, or take it a step further and develop a theme from popular types of ornaments. Bells, snowmen, Santa Claus, and even the round glass balls can all become a fun focus of your decor.
-
Step 4
Play holiday music in the background.
-
Step 5
Ask guests to bring their ornament wrapped as a gift. When each guest arrives, assign the ornament a number, starting with one and moving forward.
-
Step 6
Have the first guest draw a number. She will open the wrapped ornament marked with that number. Going in a circle, following guests will also draw numbers. They are allowed to either open the gift marked with the same number, or steal an opened ornament from another opponent. The process continues until everyone has an ornament.

Step 7
Send guests home with a favor. Ornament-shaped candies, or small stockings containing another ornament are suggestions. Ornament-shaped jewelry is another fun gift idea that fits the theme.
