Things You'll Need:

  • Reservations for camping or lodge
  • Credit card or cash
  • Boat
  • Ski's or other water toys
  1. Step 1

Make reservations for camping. Make weekend and holiday reservations well in advance. Call the park service at (940) 686-2148 for camping information and reservations. Inform them that you will need boat parking.

  2. Step 2

Stay at the Lantana Lodge if camping is not your idea of fun. Call the lodge at (940) 686-0261 for reservations. Make holiday and weekend reservations early, and inform them that you will need boat parking.

  3. Step 3

Arrive at the lake early in the morning for the smoothest water. Enter the park as early as 8:00 a.m.

  4. Step 4

Rent kayaks and canoes at Greenbelt Canoe Rentals, (940) 686-2148. Enjoy paddling on this area of the lake. There are no boat lanes in this part of the park.

  5. Step 5

Bring your skis, tubes, wake boards and other water toys. Spend time doing tricks behind a boat, as this is a lake with plenty of room for maneuvering.

  6. Step 6

Leave the park by 10:00 p.m. unless you are staying the night. The gates will close at this time.

  7. Step 7

Spend time at the lake mid week and avoid holidays. Enjoy sparse crowds and low boat traffic during the week.
